Lisa’s Dance Dimensions Studio in Millbrook Suffers Significant Damage When Large Tree Falls on Roof

A storm that rolled through Millbrook Friday afternoon caused major damage to Lisa’s Dance Dimensions Studio on Main Street across from Harvest Baptist Church.

Part of a huge tree crashed into the back roof area breaking through completely, and on Saturday owners were surveying the damage, concerned about the possibility to repair the structure that is in a flood plain.

Fortunately, no one was in the building when the tree fell, and there were no injuries.

Mayor Al Kelley said that the amount of damage to the structure will have to be verified before a decision can be made about the amount of loss. If the damage exceeds 50 percent of the property’s value, it could be required that the structure is rebuilt to new code. That will be investigated by the Millbrook Fire Marshal, he said.

“We are devastated that a longtime business in our area suffered this significant damage,” Kelley said. “We will certainly do anything possible to help them through this recovery. I have watched all the students through the years grow up in the program. They always come to our events like the Christmas Parade. They have always been very active in the community and we want the best for them. Lisa has always been a big community supporter.”

Lisa’s Dance Dimension was just one of several areas that experienced downed trees in the storm Friday. Reports of downed trees and power outages were prevalent in our entire area.

Lisa’s Dance has been in the area since 1990 teaching a variety of dance classes for generations of young girls.

The Elmore/Autauga News has been contacted by some in the community who are interested in trying to help with repair/rebuilding expenses. If you are interested in helping the organization, contact information is below:
