We Sure Could Use a Little GOOD News Today…Please Keep it Coming

BY SARAH STEPHENS

OWNER/EDITOR EAN

This is part 1 of what I hope will include many more parts. I asked for stories from our readers about something POSITIVE during this time in our lives. Thank you for those who have so far shared them. If you have a POSITIVE story to share about someone who made your day recently, please submit it to me at editorsarah@yahoo.com or post in the comments on our Facebook page. I will keep compiling them. If you have a photo, please include it.

I say it often, and I mean it….Bad news is easy to come by. But the good news, which we need right now, sometimes takes a little effort. I am all for putting in that effort, and am asking for more stories from all of you!

There are some things that are happening that perhaps we take or granted. First Responders, Grocery workers, Utility workers, our local government and county leaders, healthcare workers, railroad workers, janitors, sanitation workers, truckers, hotel staff….so many, I am missing plenty….are still working. They are providing much-needed services. Our restaurant workers who are employed by businesses still open are working hard at curbside food service. Our school officials are handing out food at schools for students who are in need of meals as school is shut down. Neighbors are checking on neighbors and leaving goodie bags and essential items. So many stories out there. Please share yours!

Here is what I have compiled so far, and I know there are many, many more out there.

FROM KIM KERVIN, AUTAUGA COUNTY PROBATE JUDGE: This is why I love Prattville!!! Some sweet family put bright pinwheels on the mailboxes of the homes in Hunts Alley. They also put care packages on the porches! As you may know, Hunt’s Alley is home to many of Prattville’s older residents. (Identified as the Langley family… Jason and Thea Langley and their girls – Presley, Taite, Ryder, Peyton.)

FROM LINDA GRAHAM: American Legion Post 133 of Millbrook is calling every member to do a wellness check and to see if they need anything. Commander Leslie Looney is doing a fantastic job.

FROM ROSALEE WADE: Last Friday I went to Winn Dixie to pick up milk, there were none in the cabinet. I happened to see someone in back of the cabinet. I asked when there will be milk in. The young man said he is now placing on the shelf. It was a young man from Barber Dairy that had just came in with a load of milk. I asked if he have low fat milk. He said it was on the truck. He told me to meet him behind Winn Dixie and he would get me one after he finished placing the regular milk on the shelf. I said I have 3 items to pay for and drove my truck around the back. The young man was waiting for me with two gallons of low fat milk. He went around my truck opened the passenger’s side and placed the two gallons on my car seat. I asked him how much. He said, “Nothing and enjoy.”

I thanked him wholeheartedly and left. The young man had a big smile and said for me to have a great day. I said to him “Thank, I will.”

See there are still good people in this world during the time of crisis. Too bad there are so many who are being greedy.

FROM DENA HORNSBY GOODSON: Our AC went out Sunday evening. Within 10 minutes of calling Allen’s Heating and Air, He was at our house checking the unit. Unfortunately, a chipmunk had crawled into the unit and chewed the wires shorting it out and throwing the breaker. Within 30 minutes, AC was fixed and our house was cool again. BIG shout out to them!! They are the only AC company I will recommend!

FROM TONI BLOCH: The entire staff at Food Outlet in Millbrook where my daughter, Addison Bloch, works. They are doing everything they can to keep food and products stocked and available during this stressful time.

FROM PEGGY PRESTON SANDERS: Brown pest control Elmore County came out yesterday to help with the mouse problem. Greatly appreciated!

FROM MARTHA ABBOTT WHITE: The wonderful team at United Heating & Air came to our rescue – AC problem diagnosed and new system installed within 24 hours. So thankful!

FROM MIKE HILL: I would like to give a shout out to the staff at Coaches Corner. They have been awesome serving the community with curbside food service. They have been doing a great job and deserve a Thank You.

FROM SENA BIRD: Abbey and Danielle Bird. Sisters having their first job together today at Tallassee Super Foods. Desperate for help. Father works there part time as he is a music teacher and Grandfather works there as well. Lots of family members of employees pulling together at a desperate attempt to fill in.

FROM KIRSTEN GOMES: I don’t have a picture of him, but at Home Depot today one of their employees who was an older gentleman in a wheelchair was so kind and helpful. He knew I was trying to find Lysol spray. (Identified as Mr. Jimmy at the Prattville store.) Though he said that stuff flies off the shelves right when they open he told me about an alternative. After reading the label I realized it should be a good substitute! I’m thankful for him helping me since you can’t find anything. So if any of you need some it is called OdoBan and is $10 for a gallon.

Remember to send me YOUR story please! It really does matter, and it really makes a difference to folks to hear GOOD news. editorsarah@yahoo.com.
