On Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 5, the Prattville Christian Academy student body gathered in the gym to watch senior Jake Bius sign his letter of intent to play football for Stetson University, a private college located in DeLand Florida.

Bius, who is 6’4”, 275-pounds, stepped up for the Panthers during the 2019 season on both sides of the ball as an offensive tackle and defensive lineman. During his senior season, he made 35 tackles, 15 assists and multiple quarterback hurries, as well as 25 pancake blocks. Bius was awarded the Team Captain Award for his leadership qualities and work ethic. He is also only the second football player from PCA to ever sign with a Division I school.

PCA’s Upper School Principal Katie Furr opened the ceremony with some kind words about the senior football player.

“This is a wonderful day for PCA, and for Jake and his family. Jake has put in so much work this year and has done so by showing incredible leadership to all students here at PCA,” Furr said.

PCA’s Head Football Coach Jeremy Carter also took the podium to speak about Jake.

“He’s worked hard. He’s shown dedication to himself, his family, and to Christ. Hopefully I’ll get a few tickets to come see him down in Florida,” Carter said with a smile.

Finally, Jake took to the Podium to speak about what this signing day meant to him.

“I’d like to thank my Family, the PCA family, and above all God for staying faithful to his children and fulfilling his promises. He’s worked in my life this year and the past few years in ways that I can’t even comprehend. I wouldn’t be in this position without Him,” Bius said.

“Jake is always hungry to improve and appreciative of the coaching he gets to make him an even better athlete,” said Ed Lovvorn, PCA’s defensive coordinator. “This attitude will take him a long way.”

Bius has been passionate about football since he was a young boy and has played since he was in second grade. He has been a starter for the Panthers since his sophomore year.

Congratulations to Jake Bius and the rest of his family on this wonderful accomplishment. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!
