Millbrook Police Officers, Staff Shown Appreciation for Their Work Throughout the Year with Luncheon

BY SARAH STEPHENS, OWNER/EDITOR

Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson welcomes his officers, dispatchers and staff to the annual Christmas luncheon.

Early Thursday morning, Dec. 19, Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson had his hands full as he prepared 70 Rib Eye steaks for his staff for a luncheon he has hosted for many years.

Inside the Civic Center Charlene Hatfield Williams was busy decorating tables, as other volunteers worked to arrange side dishes and desserts, fill tea glasses and another crew was ready to begin grilling.

By noon the tables were full with officers, dispatchers, staff as well as city officials who came to remind the police department how thankful they are for their service. Thanks to the donation of steaks, and a load of volunteer cooks who donated side items and desserts, the officers and staff had plenty to eat. Thanks to donations of gift cards from individuals and area businesses, police staff left with a present as well.

“I want to thank everyone that helped make the Millbrook Police Department Christmas luncheon a success,” Chief Johnson said. “To our citizens and local businesses that donated gift cards for our officers and staff, to our citizens who prepared a covered dish, and our wonderful volunteers who helped me prepare and grill 70 beautiful ribeye steaks and set out a feast for our staff … Thank you! You are absolutely Awesome! When you start naming names you invariably leave people out, so I’m going do it this way…A special shoutout to all who helped organize today’s events, our local businesses and to our citizens, who support us and show us love year-round, Thank You! On behalf of our officers and staff, may you and your families have a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.”

Millbrook Mayor Al Kelley came by to visit with officers, and to remind them how much they are truly appreciated.

“We are so proud of you, all the officers, the spouses, the support team, records and dispatchers,” Mayor Kelley said. “We get so many compliments about this department. I know you don’t hear a lot of those sometimes, but just the negative. I cannot thank you enough for the job that you do. I thank the spouses, because I know how they feel when you leave to go to work. Thank you for what you do. Merry Christmas to you and your families.”

Santa and Mrs. Claus also made an appearance to visit with the officers as well.
