Prattville Police, Autauga Deputies Investigate BB Rounds Fired from Passing Vehicle; One Man Hit

BY SARAH STEPHENS, OWNER/EDITOR

If someone out there thinks it is funny to shoot BB rounds at people and businesses from a vehicle, they may not be laughing long.

Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson said that around 10:19 p.m. Dec. 4 Prattville officers responded to 101 HWY 82 to a subject shot. Upon arriving at the scene it was determined that a 56 y/o male had been hit by an apparent BB round from a passing vehicle. The BB caused a welt on the back but no serious injury. BBs were collected at the scene by Crime Scene Investigators.

A short time later the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office had a report of a vehicle being shot by a BB style weapon with the suspect vehicle possible being a blue Toyota Camry with 4 to 5 subjects in the vehicle. The vehicle was last seen by a witness on Hwy. 14 West headed towards Autaugaville.

This is an active investigation and felony charges will be pursued on the suspects. No other injuries were reported to the PPD. The business “Purple Cow” may have received damage to a window from a BB round, Thompson said.
