Millbrook’s Boo Fest Draws Huge Crowd at Village Green Park; Tricks, Treats, Hayrides and More…

STORY, PHOTOS BY SARAH STEPHENS; OWNER/EDITOR

The skies may have been gray Saturday, Oct. 26, but spirits were bright as hundreds of families and their children made their way to Village Green Park in Millbrook for the Annual Boo Fest event.

Each year the Millbrook Parks and Recreation Department, along with the Street Department, decorate the park for the Fall holiday, and Boo Fest in particular. Many families used the decorations as family photo opportunities.

Thanks to area businesses and organizations who had booths, there was more than enough candy to go around, games, challenges, a hayride around the park and so much more. See our Photo Gallery from Boo Fest below.

Coming in up in November

Just in time for Thanksgiving, decorations will be up in Millbrook for the Christmas season. The annual city’s Tree Lighting event is Dec. 5 at Village Green. Music will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the stage, with the official program beginning at 6 p.m. Come out for entertainment from local students and residents, vendors with plenty of goodies like baked items and hot chocolate and a lot of Christmas spirit! Be there when all of the lights and the City Christmas Tree are turned on the park for the Christmas season!

On Dec. 7 the annual Spirit of Christmas Arts and Crafts Festival and Parade will be held. This year the theme of the Parade is “A Musical Millbrook Christmas” and the Grand Marshals will be Choir and Band students, along with their directors, from Stanhope Elmore High School

The festival opens at 9 a.m. with live entertainment, plenty of food and shopping throughout the day until 4 p.m.

The parade will roll at 2 p.m., beginning at Mill Creek Park, turning left on to Main Street by
Smokehouse Pit Barbecue, and heading north to Village Green.

Applications for having a float in the parade are FREE and available at City Hall or on the city’s website. Again, there is NO CHARGE to have a float, marching group, or participants in the parade.
