Prattville Christian Academy was named a 2019 National Blue Ribbon School by Betsy DeVos, U.S. Secretary of Education. Of the 362 schools recognized throughout the country and only 50 non-public schools, PCA is recognized as one of the highest performing schools as measured by elementary and middle school standardized test scores, and among the top 15 percent of schools in the nation.

“We recognize and honor your important work in preparing students for successful careers and meaningful lives,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos. “As a National Blue Ribbon School, your school demonstrates what is possible when committed educators hold all students and staff to high standards, create vibrant, innovative cultures of teaching and learning.”

Founded in 1997, Prattville Christian Academy is an independently incorporated school dedicated to providing academic excellence, with an emphasis on life readiness skills, in a caring, Christian environment. PCA works to infuse faith into all subjects while promoting differentiation, 21st-century skills, and a Christ-centered education. It strives to incorporate curricula and enrichment to nurture the diverse needs of the whole student within a family atmosphere. Students have access to a range of opportunities through a resource program for struggling students, dyslexia intervention, and gifted classes for high-ability students. Students are challenged to build curiosity and solve problems for themselves, classmates, and the community.

Above academic achievements, PCA is committed to growing Christian leaders. Students are encouraged to develop servant leadership skills through class projects, enrichment opportunities, and days set aside to serve others through PCA’s spiritual emphasis initiatives. Instruction in core academics, Bible classes, devotional periods, and extracurricular activities, such as athletics, honor societies, and clubs provide opportunities for developing life readiness skills that prepare students for service beyond PCA’s campus.

“This is a huge honor for PCA, and is a direct result of the day-in-and-day-out work of the entire PCA family,” said Kim Stephenson, PCA’s academic director. When all parts of the school work together to achieve small victories, the result is astounding. PCA’s culture supports excellence in education and provides students with the tools necessary to be successful in academics and life.”

The coveted National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the passion of PCA’s faculty and staff members, the dedication of the family unit and the local community in supporting PCA’s mission, as well as the students who work tirelessly to master challenging and engaging content.
