The Montgomery Police Department continues to investigate the April 12, 2024, shooting that left one victim paralyzed. Police are requesting the public’s help in identifying the suspect and are asking anyone with details or information to please come forward.

Investigators say on Friday, April 12, 2024, at approximately 1p.m., patrol units responded to W. Eastdale Circle and Atlanta Highway in reference to a subject shot. Police say the victim was located inside her vehicle in the 5500 block of Atlanta Highway. The victim sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Family members of the victim identified the victim as Amy Dicks. Her family says Ms. Dicks has been receiving medical treatment and is currently paralyzed from the chest down. The family states that her injuries will impact Ms. Dicks and her family mentally, physically, and financially for the remainder of their lives.

The circumstances surrounding this violent shooting remain under investigation and no other details are available for release at this time. Investigators and family ask anyone who may have seen something or know something to please come forward.

Central Alabama CrimeStoppers has increased the cash reward to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the shooter. In honor of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, Montgomery County District 3 Commissioner, Rhonda Walker is matching CrimeStoppers’ reward with an additional $5.000.00. In response to her contribution, Walker is quoted saying, “Our city is being terrorized by gangs and violence. Anything I can do to get some of these criminals off the street, I will do. In every case of violence, somebody knows something. I hope these funds are an incentive for someone to do the right thing and call Crimestoppers. We have too many unsolved crimes and too many criminals on the street.” Alabama House of Representatives District 76, Reed Ingram, has announced he will be matching the $5,000.00 reward, bringing the total reward to $15,000.00 for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the shooter.
