On Saturday, the 13th annual Millbrook Cops and Kids event drew a huge crowd of attendees to Village Green Park. T-shirts were given out to the first 950 children. There was plenty of FREE food, music, games, face painting, bouncy houses and live demonstrations. The goal for every Cops and Kids event is for children to interact with local police officers, firefighters, and other public service workers in a safe environment.

Punishers LEMC Three River Chapter is one of the major sponsors for the event and they gave away two free bicycles. Winners were Aurora Miller and Caison Pollard. This is the first year the Punishers LEMC Three River Chapter gave away bicycles at the event and it’s their third year attending.

DJ Kyle Kessler from Kyle-Co Entertainment was the DJ for the event and did a fantastic job entertaining the crowd.

Children were able to interact with the local first responders. They also enjoyed playing games, dunking an officer in water, exploring the police cars, fire trucks, and other vehicles on display. Two K9 demonstrations were held, and a vehicle was used on display for firemen to show the audience how specialized equipment is used in emergency situations to remove victims.

“Cops and Kids Day 2023, our 13th Annual Event, is in the books,” said Millbrook Chief P.K. Johnson.

He continued, “As Mayor Kelley often says, anytime you start passing out praise and thank people for a job well done, invariably someone gets left out. That said, I’m going to do it this way. Thank you to the MIllbrook Civitan Club, Robinson Springs United Methodist Church, Wind Creek Casino, SM Entertainment Rentals, Family Home Furniture, Home Depot, Jacks, MIllbrook Chamber of Commerce and Punishers LEMC Three Rivers for their contributions and efforts in making today’s event possible.

“Thank you to our local businesses, whose generous donations and support helped make today a success. Thank you to our community for bringing your children and grandchildren and allowing us to spend time with them today. A huge shoutout and thank you to the MIllbrook Fire Department and Powells Wrecker Service for participating today, as well as our Parks and Recreation, Street and Utility Departments for their support and assistance with today’s event. Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank Lieutenant Stephen Youngblood, Corporal Kristen White and Melissa Stiles, who are on our Cops and Kids planning committee, as well as the officers and staff members of the MIllbrook Police Department, who worked to ensure that we put smiles on young faces and built positive relationships with the young people in our community. To all involved, Thank You and Job Well Done!”
