Meridan Waste presented their new software, April 27, 2026, at the Elmore County Commission’s work session to inform residents of upcoming changes and improvements.
The software provides drivers with optimized routes and allows them to mark off stops in real time. If a trash container is not out, drivers can take a photo at the address to document the stop. They can also access a resident’s account to verify the number of containers assigned or identify locations that do not receive service, indicated by a red “no service” message.
“We’re anxious to get this started,” said Doug Dismukes, representative for Meridian Waste. “Hopefully, it’ll clear up a lot of issues and be more efficient for us and for the customers.
Vice Chairman Henry Hines expressed appreciation for the new system, noting it is expected to help address common concerns such as missed pickups due to containers not being placed at the curb, documenting damaged containers that need replacement, and identifying when service should be suspended due to nonpayment or cancellation.
“People don’t realize we have 22,000 containers that y’all [Meridian Waste] pick up every week,” said Hines. “I understand y’all have a few problems at times. Everybody does… but with these changes that are coming, it’ll only get better.”
District 2 Commissioner Brad Davis emphasized that Meridian Waste is distributing notification cards to residents outlining schedule changes, helping ensure households are aware of updated routes as the software is implemented.
“We’re going to do everything we possibly can to make sure that happens, but there has got to be some responsibility on the individuals who are contracted with Meridian,” said Davis. “We appreciate what you guys [Meridian Waste] do because there’s not a time we call that you guys don’t address the problem directly, quickly, and efficiently.”
