Prattville Head Coach Bobby Carr got the first win of his career with the Lions over one of their biggest rivals, defeating Stanhope Elmore 43-13 in the season opener at the newly renovated Stanley Jensen Stadium. Leading 15-6 late in the 1st half, the Lions scored a touchdown with 12 seconds remaining in the 2nd quarter to go into the halftime break ahead 22-6. In the 3rd quarter, the Lions scored three touchdowns to coast to a big victory.

During the game, the Lions also recognized the 1984 state championship team.

“It was a great night for our kids, staff, and the entire city of Prattville,” said Coach Carr. “First game in the newly renovated stadium and also getting to honor Coach Glasscock and his 1984 state championship team. I remember being at that game with my dad and brother. Prattville is a special place and I’m so thankful to be the head coach here.”

Mid-way through the 1st quarter, Quarterback JJ Williams completed a 32-yard pass to Donovan Brown that moved the Lions to the 1-yard line. Running back Tristin Blackmon followed up with a one yard score to put the Lions ahead 7-0.

The Mustangs showed a spark in the ensuing drive, with quarterback Davis Foshee connecting with Zac Holcombe for an electric 54-yard touchdown score.

The Mustangs had the ball and were in Prattville territory at the end of the 1st quarter, but the Lions recovered a fumble on the very first play of the 2nd quarter. Less than a minute later, Williams threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Brayden Graham. Prattville converted the two-point conversion to go ahead 15-6.

Blackmon had his second touchdown of the night just before the end of the first half to put the Lions ahead 22-6.

The Lions exploded offensively for three touchdowns in the 3rd quarter. Sophomore quarterback Will McCay entered for an injured Williams. His very first pass was a 48-yard touchdown to phenom wideout Deshawn Hall to put the Lions ahead 29-6.

The Mustangs didn’t give up. Foshee connected with Holcombe for a 26-yard pass and then Foshee ran for an 8-yard touchdown on 4th and goal to cut the lead to 29-13.

Prattville controlled the rest of the game. On the next drive, Blackmon had a 22-yard rush and later a 2-yard touchdown to move the Lions ahead 36-13 with 3 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter.

Near the end of the 3rd quarter, McCay completed a 33-yard pass to Hall, and then threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Brown to put the Lions ahead 43-13.

There was no scoring in the 4th quarter.

For the game, Williams passed for 209 yards and a touchdown just in the 1st half. McCay passed for 104 yards and two touchdowns in the 2nd half.

Blackmon, who committed to Bowling Green University prior to the start of the season, rushed for three touchdowns for the Lions.

Graham, Brown, and Hall each had a receiving touchdown for the Lions.

For the Mustangs, Foshee threw for 111 yard and one touchdown. He also rushed for a touchdown.

Barnes rushed for 60 yards for the Mustangs.
