Chief P.K. Johnson
Millbrook Police Department
On June 19, 2025, the Millbrook Police Department was notified by Walmart Loss Prevention staff that Terrence Lamons, a 39-year-old Montgomery resident, was currently in Walmart, located at 145 Kelley Blvd. Lamons was the suspect in multiple theft cases under investigation by the Millbrook Police Department.
Patrol officers arrived on scene and took Lamons into custody, without incident. Lamons was subsequently transported to the Millbrook Police Department for further investigation. Detectives interviewed Lamons and he was later charged with two counts of Organized Retail Theft. Walmart loss prevention staff signed Theft of Property 4th Degree and Trespass warrants for the merchandise he allegedly stole from the business on June 19, 2025, prior to being taken into police custody. Lamons was transported to the Elmore County Jail, with a $60,000 bond.
It appears that our prior warnings regarding people committing retail theft in the City of Millbrook have either fallen on deaf ears or have gone unheeded. So, at the risk of being repetitive, I’ll say it again. We live in a world of technology. Most retail businesses and many private homes today employ video surveillance camera systems to protect their property and interest. Our local Walmart utilizes some of the best video surveillance equipment that money can buy and they employ loss prevention personnel that are very good at what they do.
Yesterday, our department was contacted by Walmart loss prevention staff, who were monitoring an individual, who is suspected of having committed several alleged instances of retail theft at this business over the past month. Lamons is alleged to have committed yet another theft from the business prior to our officers arriving on scene. Our officers responded to the scene and quickly took the alleged offender into custody without incident. Our Criminal Investigations Unit, pursuant to their investigation, developed enough probable cause in these cases to affect an arrest and pursue prosecution against the alleged offender.
Our officers and detectives have an excellent working relationship with our local Walmart loss prevention personnel. We stand at the ready to continue to apprehend and prosecute these individuals, who continue to commit these retail thefts at businesses in our city. We love for people to visit our city and encourage them to enjoy the shopping and entertainment opportunities available here. That said, while we have some very nice hotel accommodations available, with more to come, if you commit retail theft, the only lodging option for you will be the Franklin Inn, otherwise known as the Elmore County Jail.
