Elmore County Food Pantry Board President, Director arrested by Wetumpka Police over missing funds

The Elmore County Food Pantry’s Board President, and Director were arrested earlier this week, after an investigation by the Wetumpka Police Department. They are accused of theft involving funds missing from the pantry.

They are identified as Jeffery Andrews, 61, of Millbrook and Katherine Hall, 50, of Eclectic. On the Elmore County Food Pantry website, it lists Jeffery Andrews Sr. as the pantry’s Board President, and Katherine Hall as the Director at the time of this report. Both are charged with Theft of Property 1st Degree. As of this report, they remain at the Elmore County Jail each having a $30,000 cash bond.

The following information is from the Wetumpka Police Department, which states the investigation is ongoing.

The Wetumpka Police Department has been actively investigating the disappearance of funds from the Elmore County Food Pantry dating back to July 2024.

Following a thorough investigation, two individuals have been arrested in connection with the missing funds. Due to the ongoing nature of the case, no further details will be released at this time.

The Wetumpka Police Department and Elmore County Food Pantry are committed to transparency and accountability. Additional information will be made available as the investigation progresses and when it is appropriate to do so.

As for the Elmore County Food Pantry, the EAN talked to several area officials who tell us this is horrible for the organization, but they know it will come back strong with new personnel. Operations will continue.
