Tuesday evening, the Prattville City Council had their regular meeting, which included passing multiple resolutions and one ordinance.
Under the Consent Agenda, the Council voted to approve:
Granting a retail beer (off premises only) and retail table wine (off premises only) license to POS Management, LLC, dba ZTEC Center Point. The business is located at 1284 McQueen Smith Road and is a convenience store and gas station.
Appointing Paul G. Barlow the 2025 Municipal Election Official. The municipal election will take place Aug. 26, 2025.
Declared a dilapidated structure at 819 Wilberforce Avenue to be unsafe and a public nuisance.
Declared garbage and rubbish at 118 Overlook Drive a public nuisance and authorized the Mayor to abate and charge any incurred expenses.
Named Councilman Michael Whaley the voting delegate for the Business Session of the Alabama League of Municipalities for the 2025 annual convention in May.
Declared garbage and rubbish at 608 Woodvale Road a public nuisance and authorized the mayor to abate and charge any incurred expenses.
Declared garbage and rubbish at 537 Pratt Street a public nuisance and authorized the Mayor to abate and charge any incurred expenses.
To surplus personal property from Parks and Recreation. This includes three vehicles.
Authorized the approval of a Conflict-of-Interest Policy.
Reappointed Tom Miller to the Historic Preservation Commission.
Reappointed Christopher McKay to the Historic Preservation Commission.
Set a public hearing to grant a special retail more than 30 days alcohol license for The Kitchen Table LLC, dba The Kitchen Table.
Ratified and affirmed the renewal of the levy of 7 Mills Ad Valorem Tax in the City of Prattville. Mayor Bill Gillespie made clear this is not a new tax, but a renewal.
In the regular agenda items, the council voted to authorize Mayor Gillespie to enter into a preliminary engineering and construction agreement with the State of Alabama through the Alabama Department of Transportation for transportation rehabilitation and improvement. This includes intersection improvements at US-82 and Cobbs Ford Road, Legends Drive intersections, and US 31 and US 82 including turn lanes and signal modifications at a total cost not to exceed $1,391,845.68. There is no cost to the city.
Exempted certain “covered items” from the municipal sales and use tax during the third full weekend of July 2025, referred to as the Back To School Sales Tax Holiday.
Authorized the mayor to enter into a preliminary engineering agreement with Sain Associates, Inc. for a transportation rehabilitation and improvement project. This includes the intersection at US 82 and Cobb s Ford Road, Legends Drive intersections, and US 31 and US 82 at a total cost not to exceed $216,500.
Authorized city staff to submit an application through the Montgomery Metropolitan Planning Organization Carbon Reduction program for traffic signal improvements at the intersection of East Main Street at Chestnut Street, East Main Street at Washington Street, and East Main Street at Northington Street.
