UPDATE: Ebony Bracy, 40, has been arrested for two counts of Attempted Murder in connection with the shooting of an Elmore County Deputy this morning. Her bond is set at $2 Million. Additional charges include warrants she had prior to the incident this morning. They include two counts of Failure to Comply.

Original story – An Elmore County deputy was shot around 10:15 a.m.. this morning after responding to a call for service, according to Elmore County Seriff Bill Franklin. His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. Two other residents were also hit by gunfire, and both of them are expected to recover as well.

Franklin said that a deputy responded to an area off Dozier Road, which is about one mile from the intersection of Firetower and Redland Road, in reference to a theft call.

“When deputies responded we met up with a subject that we know to have mental issues,” Franklin said. “Upon talking to this woman, we were told by dispatch that she had outstanding warrants. She was not coherent to understand the conversation. Deputies attempted to communicate with her and have her go with them for further questioning. She had a weapon and fired that weapon at a deputy, striking him in the forearm. We believe that bullet traveled up to his bicep. He immediately returned fire, and that round grazed the shooter, and hit another resident that was standing behind the woman. All three are being taken to medical facilities to receive treatment at this time.”

Franklin stressed that at this time, none of those injured appear to be life-threatening.

No further information is immediately available at this time, but we will update as possible.

Because a deputy was involved, this investigation will be led by the State Bureau of Investigations and ALEA.
