Pine Level Fire Department uses ‘Jaws of Life’ after critical vehicle crash Monday

Pine Level Fire Department

Yesterday (Feb 24), at 3:19 pm, Pine Level firefighters were dispatched to a traffic accident with injuries on County Road 85 in the area of Northpointe Drive.

When our units arrived, they found two teenagers with serious injuries and the driver of the vehicle was trapped in the vehicle.  PLFD members, using hydraulic powered rescue tools (aka “The Jaws of Life”), and removed the driver and passenger side doors to gain access to the patients.  One of the teens was transported by Haynes LifeFlight to an area hospital and the other injured teen was transported by Haynes Ambulance of Alabama to an area hospital.

PLFD responded with an Engine, a Rescue Truck, and an EMS Sprint Unit.

Your PLFD responds to an average of 1-2 times a month for traffic accidents with persons trapped and responds to more “routine” traffic accidents with injuries 2-3 times a week.
