Billingsley High School might compete in the smallest classification in the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA), but Outside Hitter/DS Alana Jones is going to represent the school in one of the state’s biggest competitions. Jones was named to the AHSAA North-South Volleyball All-Star team and will compete with the South squad in the All-Star Week. The teams are comprised of some of the top volleyball athletes in the class of 2026.
“I’m incredibly honored and excited to represent Billingsley in the All-Star game this summer,” said Jones. “It means a lot to showcase the hard work and dedication that my teammates, coaches, and I have put into the sport. Billingsley may be a small school, but this opportunity proves that talent and commitment can stand out anywhere. I can’t wait to compete alongside some of the best players in the state and make my school proud!”
The article from AHSAA.com announcing the team notes that some of Jones’ teammates on the South squad will include two players from Class 7A State Champ McGill-Toolen, and one player from Class 3A state champ Mobile Christian. Baylee Rogers from Class 4A state champ Prattville Christian Academy will also be on the South team.
Jones spoke about the opportunity to compete with some of the state’s best players. “I want to make the most of this opportunity by learning from other top players, competing at a high level, and representing my school with pride. It’s a great chance to improve my skills, play against strong competition, and experience a new level of the game. Of course, I’d love to contribute to a win, but more importantly, I want to take in everything I can to become a better player and leader for my team next season.”
Jones was named Class 1A First Team All-State by the Alabama High School Volleyball Coaches Association as a junior in 2024 and led the team to the Class 1A South Regional. Jones wants to improve in her senior season.
“Individually, I want to keep improving my skills, be a strong leader for my teammates, and set an example on and off the court,” said Jones. “I’m working on refining my technique and improving my consistency to be a better all-around player. As a team, our goal is to build on last season’s success, strengthen our teamwork, and compete in the state tournament. We want to push each other to be better every day and set a new standard for Billingsley volleyball!”
In the meantime, Jones is staying sharp by participating on a travel team, attending camps, and focusing on strength and conditioning. The AHSAA All-Star Sports Week will be held in Summer 2025.
