With the help of the Prattville Police Department and School Resource Officers, Santa had a fantastic security detail this afternoon, as he and some of his elves made stops throughout the city spreading joy, love and presents!
Thanks to a hot news tip, I tracked down the group at Kohl’s. There they were with Christmas music blaring, a dancing grinch, police officers, elves and the Jolly old Chief Elf himself, Santa Claus. He and his elves passed out Christmas presents to children, posing for photos and wishing all a Merry Christmas.
From there they traveled to other spots such as the Target shopping center, and then to area neighborhoods within the city.
At each stop, they were met with cheers, smiles and thank yous, as they made sure the young ones were greeted and given a present.
Santa would tell each of the children that he would see them next week.
I tagged along as long as I could, but eventually duty called. I had miles to go before I sleep and was in a rush.
As I left, I thanked everyone for spreading some cheer and goodwill. I said goodbye to Santa and said, “I hope to see you next week!”
He lowered his glasses and gave me the stare.
But I heard him exclaim, as I walked out of sight, “Don’t be cocky there Sarah. It’s still just a ‘Might.’” So, there is hope?
I better behave for the next few days. Santa is watching.
Thank you to the Prattville Police Department, Santa and his elves, the Grinch, the SRO officers and Woodmen Life for making this great annual tradition wonderful yet again.
Merry Christmas to all, from the EAN crew.
