The Prattville Police Department has been conducting an investigation into identity theft, but an event this weekend has led to arrests.
Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson will have more information coming, but did give the EAN some basics of the case.
Prattville officers came into contact with a vehicle of interest at Guardian Federal Credit Union and when officers approached the suspicious vehicle, a pursuit ensued. Multiple agencies assisted as the driver of the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed on I-65 toward Montgomery. The chase finally ended on I-85 and Perry Hill Road with multiple people taken into custody.
A Prattville officer receive minor injuries in an altercation while attempting to make the arrest.
Thompson said his investigators believe there are multiple counts of identity theft involved and could include thefts across the country.
We will have more on this tomorrow.
