FROM MONTGOMERY AREA DAUGHTERS
OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION
The Montgomery area Daughters of the American Revolution, Captain William Bibb Chapter finished Flag Week 2024 with its 5th annual Flag Day Commemoration Event on Saturday, June 15, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Wetumpka. Elizabeth Gillian shared a little of the history behind Flag Day in the USA as well as information about the seven flags that have flown over Alabama. This was followed by a moving program from Earl Gillian entitled “Reflections from the Son of a D-Day Survivor”.
Members displayed photos, medals, uniforms and more recognizing and honoring their ancestors who have served in the military.
We were honored to have State Recording Secretary Anne Paramore, State Librarian Nancy Williams, Alabama C.A.R. State President Sarah Cagle and SAR State Genealogist Earl Gillian in attendance.
Many thanks to all who joined us in this celebration of country and its flag!
