Legacy Seafood Market opened up their doors to the community on November 4th 2021. Since opening, it has grown into a thriving seafood market, bringing in many customers throughout the River Region area. The market not only sells fresh seafood, but also incorporated barbeque as well. It is located in the Ashton Plaza Shopping Center off of Hwy. 14 in Millbrook. Their hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Jeff Campbell is the owner and operator. He previously worked at Allstate Beverage for two years, and before that he was Co-Manager at the Walmart in Prattville. The Prattville job is what brought him to Alabama.

Jeff Campbell’s father, Jeff Campbell Sr., was a Commercial Shrimper in the 1970’s in Thunderbolt, Georgia. As Campbell was growing up, he learned everything there was to know about seafood through his family. Campbell Sr., helped his son start up his business in Millbrook. His family is what inspired him to run his own seafood business.

“I incorporated a little of my family’s legacy into Millbrook and into our community. I want to share the way we cook things, by sharing our family recipes. I do my own breading, my own seasoning, and my own homemade sauces. These recipes are family-owned recipes.” Campbell said.

Campbell spoke to EAN on how the business has been throughout the year.

“The business has been doing very well throughout this first year. My secret to success is how I treat my customers, learning about my customers, greeting them by their name, and having good, quality food,” he said.

During the first year of business, Legacy Seafood Market incorporated barbeque in the beginning of 2022. Joshua Tatum, owner of Legacy Barbeque, teamed up with Jeff Campbell for a wonderful combination of seafood and barbeque. They both catered several events together. The biggest event to date was the Kevin Turner Golf Tournament at RTJ, where they served over 400 golfers and volunteers. They also provided meals to the local sports teams at the schools in our area.

Another catering event was the First Responders Luncheon at Church of the Brook in April of this year. In June of 2022, Tatum received a job offer that he could not refuse and became the Offensive Line Coach at Wetumpka High School.

Since June, Campbell decided to keep the barbeque along with the seafood because it was such a big seller for the business. Pulled pork plates, mouthwatering ribs, and scrumptious wings is a great addition for the market.

Legacy Seafood Market and Barbeque has catered weddings, family reunions, and rehearsal dinners. There will be more catering events coming in 2023.

“When I go out to our local businesses in Millbrook to grab a burger, a coffee, or even a doughnut, I always make sure to tell everyone where I went to bring awareness to our local businesses. I get a lot of feedback from other customers and I just want everyone to know there is good food and drinks all around our town of Millbrook,” Campbell said.

“Thank you to local businesses that have accepted me, shared their experiences and wisdom with me such as Jeremy and Kim at Kingdom Dough, Marty and Jessie at Front Porch Grill, Lucas and Bri at Sweethart Coffee, Mr. Mike at Ingrams. They are not competitors, they are friends in the same business to me.  Everyone at Hometown Kitchen, Adams Drugs, Color Copy, Mrs. Kouns and Rachel for making my menus and banners, and Rocky, with Grant Home Builders for loaning me his smoker. Thank you to all the local schools for allowing me to feed the different teams, bands, and coaches. Thank you to my small team of people – Justin Talley, Brooke Cooper, Brandon Moore, my wife Sherry Campbell, my daughter Kaelyn Campbell, my son TJ Campbell, my mother-in-law Wanda Thompson, and my father for helping me build this Legacy. I also would like to thank Aunt Hope and Uncle Craig Meeks. A special thank you to CAKEOLOGY for making our cake for the one-year anniversary event,” said Campbell.
