UPDATED RELEASE from Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson
Over the past few weeks, Prattville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division has been working several felony cases involving 21-year old suspect Collin Dean of Prattville. Dean was considered to be armed and dangerous.
On 08/05/2022 around 1600hrs, Prattville PD Patrol units observed Dean in a black Ford F-150 in a shopping center parking lot in Prattville. Patrol units attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Dean in the area of Rocky Mount Road. Dean refused to stop for Officers and a vehicle pursuit ensued where Dean was pursued into Millbrook on Hwy 14 east. Law Enforcement units continued to pursue Dean on Deatsville Hwy where a short time later the vehicle was spiked and eventually wrecked around Co. Rd. 40 and Co. Rd. 85 in Autauga county.
Dean was taken in to custody. A 20-year-old female was also in the vehicle with Dean and an investigation into her involvements is also being conducted. During the pursuit, Dean caused two traffic accidents, one in Prattville and another in Millbrook, both of which are being investigated by ALEA.
ALEA State Troopers, Millbrook Police Department, and the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Prattville Police Department in the pursuit. Dean was arrested on a Felony Theft 1st offense with other charges pending. Current bond for the Theft 1st is set at $30,000.00.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Two people are in custody after a pursuit began at Bass Pro Shop in Prattville earlier this afternoon, according to Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson.
“We had a guy we have been looking for extensively, and had a special operations detail looking for him. A patrol officer spotted the vehicle at Bass Pro Shop and a pursuit ensued. During that pursuit, the suspect vehicle hit two other vehicles.”
Millbrook Police, ALEA and Autauga County Sheriff’s deputies assisted in the pursuit which traveled through Millbrook, on to Deatsville Highway. During that part of the chase, the vehicle was spiked and the tires damaged, but the vehicle continued northbound on Deatsville Highway. At the intersection of Deatsville Highway and County Road 40, the vehicle made a left turn, and wrecked a short time later.
Taken into custody was the man Prattville officers were looking for, as well as a passenger in the vehicle. Also seized was at least one weapon, and evidence of other weapons, Chief Thompson said.
The suspect and passenger are currently in custody and more will be released shortly, Chief Thompson said.
