MILLBROOK – Chances are pretty good that you have heard the talents of Bekky and Doyle Campbell, married musicians and Millbrook residents. But if not, on Thursday you will have a chance to see them together on the stage at Village Green Park. Music begins at 6:30 p.m. and will go until around 8:30 p.m.
This is a FREE concert and all are welcome.
The City has large fans in place to make the heat a little easier to handle, and the stage for the band will be moved under the trees as well for this concert. There are all kinds of other great things happening, and they are listed below in this article.
As for Bekky and Doye, both are great musicians in their own right. They both grew up with a love for music. So much so, they have a music room in their house in Millbrook. .
Bekky admits to being a little shy when she first began performing and singing, not sure of her talent. (Trust us, the woman has talent.) Even now, she says she still gets the jitters before taking the stage.
Doyle grew up in a musical family that performed as a gospel group. He can play multiple instruments. He has been in several local bands over the years and is quite proficient as a lead singer as well.
The two have a son, Caiden, nine-years-old, who is expected to make a guest appearance and performance as well on Thursday. (We are told his rendition of Blue on Black is not to be missed.)
Doyle is the Fire Marshal for Millbrook, a Millbrook firefighter and Captain, and certified police officer to boot. He retired as a firefighter with Montgomery.
Bekky is in office administration. She grew up singing with her church. She started branching out locally with karaoke and moved on to singing with groups.
The two met at a venue in Montgomery, and of course music was involved. The relationship blossomed. The two married not long after.
As for their show coming up, both agreed they cover all types of music, and hope to have something for everyone. “We play country, old rock, new rock and even a bit of soul,” Doyle said. They even throw in some Prince to keep it interesting.
Both will take turns doing lead vocals for Thursday night.
“You will hear a little bit of everything, sometimes with our own style,” Bekky said. It will be an acoustic show with a brief intermission between sets.
The couple said they are really excited about the opportunity, especially because it is home.
They are hoping to see old friends and make some news ones as they share their love of music.
“We play around a lot on stage, we banter back and forth. But we have a good time. I have been playing now for more than 40 years. But we have a great time on stage, and love to interact with the crowd,” Doyle said.
From the City of Millbrook – Make plans to join us for the concert of the season! Yep, it’s going to be HOT, but we’ve figured it out by putting a stage under the shade trees at the north end of Village Green Park which will be much more comfortable for everyone. Our Hometown Locals Doyle Campbell and his talented wife Bekky are the entertainment.
Front Porch Grill will be there with their new food truck as well as Christie Mason w/ Tee’s Treats, local Honey Lemonade for sale from Chuck & Peggy Burns, River of Life Church Chill Out Ice Cream Truck, and the City will provide FREE WATERMELON slices as long as they last. We’ll also have a fun KIDS PLAY ZONE and hot rod cars on display with Max Complete Auto Care.
Let’s pack the park for this FREE community concert and gift from the City of Millbrook!
