Clifton Potts, 44, of Tallassee was booked into the Elmore County Jail Monday on charges of Murder (Family-Gun Domestic Violence.) He is being held on $1.5 million bond.
He is accused in the shooting death that occurred in Tallassee at the Hanil USA company on March 4, 2022.
After a pursuit by law enforcement following the shooting, Potts was located in the parking lot of a hotel in Phenix City. He has been held on charges relating to that pursuit, but was booked into Elmore County Jail on Monday.
Potts will have his first appearance on the murder charge Tuesday at 11 a.m. before Judge Glenn Goggans in Elmore County.
Potts had been serving time in an Atmore facility just prior to the Tallassee shooting, but had recently been released when he is accused of killing the female victim in this case.
