MONTGOMERY COUNTY – A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 11:01 a.m. Friday, June 18, has claimed the lives of two men, one from Tupelo, Miss., and the other from Crestview, Fla.
David Carpenter, 58, was driving a 2020 Kenworth tractor-trailer when it ran off the northbound lane of the roadway and crossed the center median colliding head-on with a 2017 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Richard Bennett, 61, which was traveling south. Both Carpenter and Bennett were fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on U.S. 231 near the intersection of U.S. 82 at the 171 mile marker, in Montgomery County. Nothing further is available as the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate.
