Wetumpka Police Department
On Sunday, April 19, 2026, at approximately 11:55 a.m., officers with the Wetumpka Police Department responded to the 500 block of Coosa River Parkway in reference to a report of a subject who had been shot inside a convenience store.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 21-year-old victim who sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was treated on scene by Wetumpka Fire Department personnel and Haynes Ambulance medics before being transported to Baptist South Hospital for further treatment. At the time of transport, the victim was considered to have life-threatening injuries.
Officers were able to take a suspect into custody while on scene and recovered the firearm used in the shooting. The suspect has been identified as 20-year-old Daveyun Stinson, who has been charged with Assault First Degree.
Investigators remained on scene and conducted interviews throughout the afternoon.
As of April 20, 2026, the victim remains in critical but stable condition.
