Marbury Girls’ Soccer Center Defensive Back Hailey Kopp has committed to continue her soccer career at Wallace State Community College. Leading the back line for Marbury in her senior season, the Bulldogs have not allowed a single goal is 12 of 18 games played. She averages 10.2 takeaways per game and 7.4 wins on 50/50 balls.

Kopp visited Wallace State in March and decided to commit soon after.

“My mom and I visited Wallace State Community College with Coach Greene and loved the campus and all its amenities,” said Kopp. “After meeting Coach Greene, I knew it would be a great place to play. He had a fun yet get-the-job-done personality.I loved that everything was within walking distance from my apartment to classes and the soccer field. It’s ideal distance from home was a bonus.”

Kopp gave credit to her current coach for his impact during her high school career.

“I would like to thank Coach Brent Sowell, Marbury High. He never stopped believing in the little 7th grader who stepped on the soccer field for the first time ever. He played me all over the field but we both realized defense-center back was my home. Thank you Coach Sowell!”

Kopp’s defensive presence for the Bulldogs has contributed to Marbury winning the Class 5A Area 5 championship for the second consecutive season. She has overseen one of the most impressive two-year periods for a soccer program in the Elmore and Autauga area. Through the last two seasons, Marbury is 29-4-2. The Bulldogs have four regular season games remaining before the start of the Class 5A playoffs.
