Chilton County man sentenced to Life without parole in child Sodomy case

From: District Attorney CJ Robinson

19th Judicial Circuit of Alabama

In February, a Chilton County jury found 34-year-old Charles Davis guilty of two counts of Sodomy in the first degree. Davis had a sentencing hearing on Wednesday in front of Circuit Judge Joy Booth, who sentenced him to serve Life without parole on one count of Sodomy 1st and to serve Life on the second count of Sodomy 1st.

Davis was convicted of sodomizing a young girl, who was six at the time, and for the sodomy of a young boy, which took place over a two-year span, and began when the boy was seven years old.

Prosecutors were able to call an additional witness who testified that the defendant had sexually abused her from the time she was nine until she was eleven years old.

District Attorney CJ Robinson said, “Charles Davis is another disgusting individual who was a danger to our communities, and his history of crimes against innocent children has now been stopped forever. We put on testimony of three separate children that he sexually abused. I am not convinced they are the only ones he victimized… but I know that because of the bravery of these victims to tell their story alongside the dedicated individuals of the Jemison Police Department, Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center, and our awesome team the DA’s Office, he will never have the chance to touch another child. I feel confident the children he abused now have the structure and support around them to break the cycle of abuse that we often see repeat itself over and over.”

The young girl in this case was brave in disclosing her abuse to a counselor at school and the counselor, as a mandated reporter, contacted DHR, which in turn contacted law enforcement. This is a perfect example of the system working as it should to protect those who cannot protect themselves, and I am grateful for the relationships and collaboration we have in this county when it comes to protecting children.”
