The Elmore County Commission recognized Linda Blankenship, March 23, 2026, during their work session, honoring her more than 30 years of service to the county and over 50 years of service to the community.

Blankenship began her career in public service in 1995, faithfully serving Elmore County with diligence and care. During her tenure, she has held significant roles, including senior recording clerk and archivist.

“I just want to say thank you to Ms. Linda for all that she’s done,” Jason Britt, probate judge for Elmore County. “She’s helped me when I had questions, and she’s always been great and wonderful to me.”

For more than 50 years, Blankenship has also been deeply involved in genealogical research, becoming a trusted authority on both Elmore County and Tallapoosa County. Her work has connected countless individuals across the community to their roots, preserving family histories that might have otherwise been lost.

“Linda Blankenship is an institution,” said John Enslen, former probate judge for Elmore County (2013-2019). “She has done more than any other single person to help preserve our records here, and she’s made more trips to cemeteries than all of us here put together.”

Blankenship’s work extends beyond local audiences with several publications she authored, including Cemeteries of Elmore County, Elmore County, Alabama’s Birth and Death Records, and Abstract Newspapers of Elmore County, Alabama.

“I think we all owe her a debt of gratitude for the work she has done over the years,” said Jimmy Stubbs, former probate judge for Elmore County (2004-2012). “Elected officials can’t do much, but these employees make the office, and she’s one who helped make it good.”

Following remarks about Blankenship’s service to the community, commissioners invited her, along with her family and friends, to come forward as they presented her with a resolution honoring her legacy in Elmore County.
