Elmore County Public Schools announces top 10 black history poster contest winners

Winners of the Elmore County Public Schools black history poster contest were announced Tuesday, March 17, 2026, during the Elmore County Board of Education meeting.

Officials highlighted student creativity and learning tied to this year’s national theme, honoring 250 years of black history in Alabama.

District 2 board member, Wendell Saxon, who presented the awards, praised the students’ work and said the entries not only showcased artistic talent but also offered meaningful insight into influential figures with connections to the state.

“We have some very talented students, and I want to share some of their work that they have done and award them for their good work,” Saxon said, noting he even discovered new Alabama ties among the historical figures featured in the posters.

The top 10 Black History Poster Winners are:
