Cookie lovers in Prattville will soon have a new reason to celebrate, as Great American Cookie Company prepares to open its doors in the coming weeks. The popular dessert shop, known for its warm cookies and colorful cookie cakes, is expected to bring both sweet treats and new job opportunities to the community as it joins the growing mix of local businesses in Prattville.
“This was an ideal situation to open up a Great American Cookies store in Prattville,” said owners Kenny Hudson and his business partner. “The excitement that the Prattville community has brought about this store makes us so glad that we did this in Prattville. The people here are amazing.”
Opening a franchise business can come with its challenges. The process took a little longer than expected due to architectural planning and other unforeseen delays. The general contractor also faced some family issues during the project.
Despite the setbacks, the City of Prattville assisted throughout the process, moving quickly on permits and inspections and staying on schedule. The contractor completed the entire buildout in less than three weeks. Great American Cookies also worked through the delays and continued pushing the process forward to help ensure Hudson’s franchise was approved to open.
“The excitement we have felt in Prattville has made it all worthwhile, because we can support local schools, churches, and the community as a whole,” said Hudson.
Great American Cookies of Prattville will offer about 15 freshly baked cookie flavors each day, including gluten-friendly options.
As Great American Cookies prepares to open in Prattville, Hudson and his team hope the store will become more than just a place for sweet treats. “Our biggest goal is to serve the community and make each customer smile,” Hudson said, emphasizing the store’s commitment to Prattville even after the initial excitement fades.
