The Order of Cimarron brought downtown Wetumpka to life with its annual Mardi Gras Parade & Festival, themed Heartbeats and Neon Streets. Colorful floats, glowing accents, and lively music filled the streets as families, friends and visitors lined the route, celebrating a tradition that continues to unite the community. Local shops and vendors welcomed crowds throughout the day, offering everything from festive finds to classic festival fare, while beads, MoonPies, and other novelties flew through the air to the delight of paradegoers of all ages.

This year’s parade held special meaning as James Owen Dozier, Elmore County’s oldest living World War II veteran, served as grand marshal for the 2026 Order of Cimarron Mardi Gras Parade. His presence was met with gratitude and applause, underscoring the event’s strong sense of community and appreciation for local history. From enjoying the sights and sounds to shopping downtown and sharing laughs over good food, attendees experienced a fun-filled day that reflected Wetumpka’s heart, spirit, and unmistakable hometown pride.
