Wetumpka High School’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) visited the Elmore County Commission, Feb. 9, 2026, for a proclamation declaring Feb. 23–27 as National FFA Week, highlighting the organization’s ongoing commitment to developing student leaders, promoting agricultural education, and preparing students for a wide range of careers.
FFA, an intracurricular student organization for individuals interested in agriculture, leadership, and career development, embraces a wide range of careers in science, business, and technology related to agriculture, including veterinary medicine, engineering, entrepreneurship, and more.
“FFA has brought me so many opportunities to meet people and connect, and it is so much more than farming,” said Luke Wyatt, first-year member of Wetumpka FFA. “It teaches you how to talk better and gives you a group of people you will be friends with for the rest of your life.”
In addition to the county commission visit, Wetumpka FFA members have been actively engaging the community by sharing their recent accomplishments and upcoming events with other local entities, including the Elmore County Board of Education and Wetumpka City Council. These appearances aim to encourage local support and highlight the organization’s positive impact.
“Our future is bright with members of the FFA,” said Commissioner Henry Hines. “These young ladies and men are taking the extra steps.”
For Wetumpka FFA, National FFA Week is not only a time for celebration but also a chance to inspire younger students, educate the public about the role of agriculture in everyday life, and highlight the leadership and career opportunities available through the organization.
