Surrounded by family, friends, and supporters, Betty Kiser officially launched her first Christian book, Trusting God With Your Change of Seasons, Nov. 9, 2025, at Swim Prep in Prattville.
The book—part memoir, part reflection on faith—captures the many “seasons” of Kiser’s life and the lessons she’s learned through each one.
“There have been many nights when I have woken to think about what I was going to say today,” said Kiser. “My biggest takeaway is to just put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard. Write your stories down now, even if it’s just a rough draft, because maybe those stories are only for your eyes or maybe they are a legacy for your family.”
Kiser describes her life as unfolding in 20-year cycles. The most recent began in 2000, when she moved to Alabama to be closer to her daughter and four grandchildren. Over that time, she faced a failing business, divorce, the loss of loved ones, and even a flooded home. But through it all, she found new purpose in health, creativity, and faith.
“I started coming to Swim Prep to help me lose weight, but I kept thinking there was no point because I couldn’t get the last 20-25 years back,” said Kiser. “After about three weeks, God told me, ‘But Betty, you could get it forward.’”
Each chapter of Trusting God With Your Change of Seasons reflects one of these turning points in her life. At the end of every chapter, Kiser includes a section defining that “season” and sharing “seasonings”—Bible verses that shaped and guided her through that time.
“When Mom told me that God told her to write a book, it was not a surprise to me at all because she had been thinking about it for a while,” said her daughter, Cheryl Kiser. “Then, I started reading the pages, and it came to life in a way I didn’t expect it to. I am so proud of her for sharing her story.”
In addition to sharing her story, Kiser also showcased her artwork and photography during the event. The art on the book’s cover was painted by her, and the photo on the back shows Kiser as a little girl—a reminder of how far she has come through each season of life.
“I think this book shows just how strong Mom really is,” said Diana Lipski, Kiser’s other daughter. “She’s been through so many changes, but she’s always found a way to see God’s purpose in every one of them. Now, other people get to see that too.”
