Building on the success of previous years, the event attracts professional athletes, community leaders, and River Region residents each year. The weekend includes music, a silent auction, and a Celebrity All-Star Party on Sunday, October 12, at 6 p.m. at The Barn at Twin Valley Farms. It is followed by a full day of golf on Monday, October 13, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Past celebrity guests have featured Roman Harper, Antonio Langham, Marvin Freeman, Adam Lind, Tim Redding, Mike Mordecai, and Jon Lieber, along with MLB stars Andruw Jones, Reggie Sanders, Marquise Grissom, Preston Wilson, Jimmy Rollins, Luis Gonzalez, Brian Jordan, and Ray Lankford. “We’re grateful for the success of our previous tournaments, and it is truly gratifying to have friends I’ve played with in the Majors or met during my professional career lend their support to the community I come from,” said M&M co-founder Marlon Anderson.
Anderson played Major League Baseball with the Philadelphia Phillies, Tampa Bay Rays, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Mets, Washington Nationals, and Los Angeles Dodgers. Today, he serves as the director of player development for the baseball program at Samford University in Birmingham. The Prattville native co-founded the M&M Foundation in 2020 with Prattville City Councilman Marcus Jackson to help improve the lives of children and families in underserved communities, especially in their hometown. The Foundation emphasizes service and aims to empower young people through education, resources, and opportunities. Jackson, who represents Prattville’s District 2, works with area youth as a Behavior Coach for the Autauga County Board of Education and as a community mentor.
“The M&M Foundation’s mission is to give access and exposure to our young people — the true future of our communities,” Jackson said. “Weve’ launched successful programs that create real change, and this tournament helps us continue and expand that work. We’re excited to unite the community for a cause that changes lives.” The Foundation uses the proceeds to improve the lives of children and their families and to establish The Dream Center at North Highland, a versatile facility located on the historic site of North Highland School in Prattville.
