The Prattauga Art Guild kicked off its annual Fall Art Show on Saturday at the Prattville Creative Arts Center and Gallery, showcasing more than 140 works from local and regional artists.
This annual exhibit featured submitted work pieces by visual artists throughout Prattville and the River Region of ages 18 and up. There were works from a myriad of art media, including painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, sculpture, fiber, and more.
“The Prattauga Art Guild Fall Art Show is always a highly anticipated event within our local arts community, but I’m excited to see interest from the general public, as well,” said Cultural Arts Manager Mynecia Steele.
She continued, “We gained eight new members during take-in. It’s exciting to see so many interesting pieces. We have such a wide variety of pieces this year that there is something for everyone to enjoy and appreciate, from hyper-realistic paintings to colorful fiber arts and everything in between.”
Several local businesses and art patrons have also shown their support for Prattville arts through Purchase Award Sponsorships. Health Care Systems, Jim & Barbara Simpson, and Synovous each supported a local artist with a $250 purchase award. River Bank & Trust made a $500 contribution.
“We give out several awards during this art show. The winners receive ribbons and cash awards. We are giving out 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in our 6 categories, the judge has selected 6 honorable mentions, and the greatest honor goes to Best in Show. This year’s best of show is Wendy O’Riley’s acrylic piece “God is in the Details”, stated Steele.
The exhibit will be on display through October at the Prattville Arts Center and Gallery, located at 342 South Chestnut Street in Prattville. The gallery is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 AM- 2 PM and on Sundays from 1-4 PM.
