On Friday, September 19, 2025, second-grade students throughout Elmore County were invited to attend the annual Law Day event at the Elmore County Judicial Complex in Wetumpka.

This annual tradition is held on the third Friday of September. This makes the eighth year for this program.

Throughout the day, students observed a mock trial, which involved an experience of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. They are introduced to the judiciary roles, fostering a deeper understanding of the justice system.

Judges, county commissioners, and area teachers wore costumes to play the part and bring excitement to the courtroom. This year, they did not disappoint. The children were engaged and were able to vote whether or not Goldilocks was guilty or not guilty for eating the porridge that she stole from the bears. Unanimously, she was found guilty.

The students also created posters in honor of Law Day, with winners of the contest announced throughout the day.

“I want to personally thank all of our sponsors this year. Without them, this event wouldn’t be possible. Thanks to our sponsors, we were able to provide Law Day t-shirts to every student and teacher in attendance,” said Elmore County Commissioner Desirae Jackson.

Outside of the judicial complex, students had a chance to meet and greet law enforcement, public safety, first responders, and area officials. The purpose is to introduce them to multiple agencies and departments that serve the community daily.
