From Alabama Law Enforcement Agency
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A single-vessel crash involving a personal watercraft (PWC) occurred at approximately 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, and has resulted in the injury of a 12-year-old juvenile. The 12-year-old was towing another 12-year-old on a knee board with a 2024 Sea-Doo 300.

The incident occurred on Lake Martin in Little Kowaliga Creek near Wake Robbin Road which has a causeway that extends out into the lake. During the course of the incident, the Sea-Doo struck the causeway. Prior to the impact, the 12-year-old being towed on the knee board let go of the rope. However, the 12-year-old operating the Sea-Doo went airborne after striking the causeway and landed on the roadway. The 12-year-old operator was transported by helicopter to an area hospital for medical treatment.

The 12-year-old being towed was not injured during the course of the incident.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Marine Patrol Division continue to investigate.
