Bourbon Bash raises $9,130 for Elmore County Humane Society

From Rea Cord

Humane Society of Elmore County

We know we are very blessed indeed when so many people work so hard to help raise money for our animals!  On Sat, 16 Aug, at the wonderful Warehouse 231 venue, a whole lot of folks showed up for the Central Alabama Bourbon Bash Bottle Event presented by the Central Alabama Bourbon Hunters and, in the end, brought our Shelter a check for $9,130!  How fantastic is that!  There are a slew of folks who made this such a success, but we must especially thank Pam Taylor Breedlove and Scott Whetstone who spearheaded the event and worked tirelessly to make it such a success.  To all who helped Pam & Scott with the planning, setup and execution, who donated, who got the word out and who came and had a great time – we cannot thank you enough!  Class events like this don’t happen easily and we are incredibly grateful that our Shelter was chosen to benefit.  This donation will certainly be put to quick use as we have had a number of animals that have come to us of late needing urgent Veterinary Care and we will always see to their needs, especially with this kind of heart-warming support.  Thank you ALL!

Don’t forget that Sunday, 21 September, starting at NOON is our or our 19th Annual Bark in the Park at Fort Toulouse in Wetumpka!  Lots to see and do with vendors, food, music, demonstrations, adoptable dogs, Microchip Clinic, Blessing of the Pets, Pet Parade, Pet Contests, five fantastic Raffle Baskets, Pet Picasso Paw Prints, Bark in the Park T-Shirts and so much more.

From about 12:30 – 2:15 we will have various dog demonstrations in front of the Pavilion – Disc Dog, K9 Nosework, Obedience, Tricks and How to Greet Dogs. At about 2:30 join us for the Blessing of the Pets, followed by the Parade of Pets at about 2:45 to show off your beloved dog.  But, more than just a parade, secret judges will be scouting during the parade to award prizes for – smallest dog, largest dog, most ORIGINAL costume, best costume, owner-pet lookalike and Judge’s Choice. Winners will receive some very cool gift certificates from local area businesses for which we are incredibly appreciative and will publicly recognize once we have them all.

Vendors, you don’t want to miss out so be sure to sign up to join our fun ($40 Vendor fee) at https://www.elmorehumane.org/event-calendar.html or email [email protected] .

We will be selling tickets for our five HUGE & fantastic Basket’s jam packed with goodies.  There will be a Dog Themed Basket, a Cat Themed Basket, a Wine Basket, a Coffee Basket and a special Tail’s End Thrift Store Basket.  Raffle tickets will be pulled at 3:30 and, yes, you must be present to win!  Trust us – it will be worth it as these will be giant baskets full of goodies.

From 1 – 3 pm & with the help of the Tuskegee College of Veterinary Medicine staff you can get your pet microchipped for only $25 (which includes the registration).

Don’t forget to stop near the Pavilion at Fort Toulouse to purchase your 2025 Bark in the Park “Embrace the Chaos? T-Shirt for $15.
