With Election Day just days away, Hunter Mills, candidate for Wetumpka City Council – District 1, is setting forward a bold vision rooted in transparency, accountability, and community-centered leadership.
“I’m running for city council because I believe Wetumpka deserves strong, responsive, and transparent leadership that puts our residents first. I’ve listened to the concerns of my neighbors, and I share their desire for a city government that is more proactive, more accountable, and more focused on building a strong future for everyone. This race is about making sure every voice is heard, and every neighborhood gets the attention it deserves,” Mills said.
Key Priorities:
1. Transparency & Accountability – Hosting quarterly town hall meetings and regular community meet-ups to ensure every resident has a voice in city decisions.
2. Donating Council Salary – Pledging to donate 100% of the City Council salary to local community groups, nonprofit organizations, school initiatives, and neighborhood programs that directly benefit Wetumpka families.
3. Supporting Law Enforcement – Strengthening resources for public safety, because maintaining a safe city is crucial to success.
4. Smart Economic Development – Pursuing thoughtful growth that brings jobs and opportunities while preserving the small-town charm and historic character that define Wetumpka.
5. Arts & Education – Championing the creation of an Arts Center so children have a safe, inspiring space to explore creativity, music, theater, and the arts.
6. Term Limits – Committing to a two-term limit on the City Council to ensure that fresh ideas and new voices have the chance to represent the people.
