WETUMPKA, Ala. – Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center hosts a Clay for Kids fundraiser, Aug. 15, 2025, at Lower Wetumpka Shotgun Sports Club.

The event raises money to support child abuse victims and their families. Participants—both individuals and teams of four—aimed at clay targets launched at different angles and distances.

“It’s just crazy to see how big this event has grown from only 11 teams when we started eight years ago to now 80 teams total,” said Emily Hutcheson, Assistant Director and Child Forensic Interview Specialist for Butterfly Bridge. “This event would not be successful without all of our participants and sponsors, so we really appreciate them.”

Competitors rotated through multiple shooting stations, each designed to mimic the flight of game such as doves, ducks, woodcocks, or even a bouncing rabbit. To accommodate the record turnout, the competition was split into morning and afternoon rounds.

“All of the support we have out here today truly shows that people care about the work that we do”, said Jana Zuelzke, Executive Director and Child Forensic Interview Specialist for Butterfly Bridge.

Butterfly Bridge works to minimize trauma for children who have experienced abuse and neglect, offering a safe environment where a multidisciplinary team provides support throughout the justice and recovery process.

Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Butterfly Bridge’s Elmore and Autauga County locations.
