From: Millbrook Police Department
Millbrook, AL
On Monday, August 11, 2025, detectives with the Millbrook Police Department’s Criminal Investigative Unit received information that an individual within our jurisdiction may be in possession of images depicting the sexual abuse of children.
Millbrook detectives are part of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, working with our federal, state and local law enforcement partners to investigate these type of criminal offenses. Pursuant to an investigation, detectives developed a suspect, later identified as Will P. Crum, a 56-year-old Millbrook resident, as the alleged offender in this case.
On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Millbrook detectives executed a search warrant at the alleged offender’s residence in reference to this investigation. During the course of the search warrant, multiple electronic devices were seized and detectives developed enough probable cause to arrest Crum on charge(s) of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material. Crum was taken into custody and later transported to the Elmore County Jail, where he was held without bond pending warrant(s) being obtained and served.
“As I’ve stated before, it doesn’t matter how long you work in this field. You never get to the point that you can digest some of the things that our officers have to see and hear during these types of investigations, particularly those involving children,” said Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson. “Most of our officers have children and some, like me, have grandchildren, so it really hits close to home when we see cases like this.”
Johnson went on to add “I want to commend our Criminal Investigations Unit for their work in this case. Upon receiving this information, they moved quickly and with purpose to investigate the tip we received, identifying our suspect as the alleged offender, as well as obtaining and executing a search warrant, which resulted in the seizure of enough evidence to develop the probably cause necessary to affect an arrest in this case. This case remains under active investigation, so no additional information is available for release at this time. In speaking with our detectives, I can say that additional charges are anticipated moving forward. The Millbrook Police Department remains committed to protecting children from child predators, both online and in our community. There is absolutely no place for this in our community or society as a whole.”
