The Crenshaw Park 4th Annual Back to School Event held on Sunday was a huge success. Over 200 students showed up and received the supplies they needed completely free of charge.  They also got fresh haircuts and styles to start the year off with confidence.

Most importantly, they had FUN before heading back to school. Each child also received a free snow cone, courtesy of SnoBiz Wetumpka.

“Each year we’ve had such an amazing time in the Crenshaw Community,” said Owners of SnoBiz Wetumpka, Rodney and Tabatha Powe.

They continued, “We have watched this great event grow year after year and it keeps growing! Each year gets better and better! To see so many kids standing in line for backpacks and supplies reminds me just how much love Desirae has for these communities! Henry Ford says, “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success,” and we believe Desirae has made a undeniable impact in this community and it shows through her dedication and commitment. SnoBiz Wetumpka cannot wait until next year!”

Elmore County Commissioner Desirae Lewis-Jackson spoke to EAN about the event.

“What an amazing day that our 4th Annual Back to School Event was a true success and it’s all thanks to YOU!

She continued, “To our sponsors, volunteers, parents, and students and to every single person who helped spread the word, we are truly grateful. When community leaders, churches, and organizations come together like we did on this day, success is inevitable. Our hope is that every student left today feeling seen, supported, and ready for the new school year. You never know what someone may be going through, but together, we showed them they are not alone on their academic journey. Let’s continue to encourage our students to focus on what matters most getting an education and building a bright future.”

We wish all students a safe, successful, and inspiring school year!
