This morning the fishing was great, and the youth fishing, watched closely by family members, seemed to enjoy it all.
The annual Alabama Wildlife Federation held their Youth Fishing Rodeo this morning at their headquarters in Millbrook. It brought a crowd of kids and their parents to the catfish pond. Children 15 and under could catch and take home up to five catfish each. However, they would catch and release as many as they wanted during the event. Practice makes perfect!
We are so grateful that AWF has its headquarters right here in our area!
Each child received a free T-shirt and a chance to win door prizes. Admission was free and snacks and drinks were also available. Most importantly, the kids had a great opportunity to hone their fishing skills, some for the first time. There were plenty of fist bumps, proud parents, squeals of delight, laughter and cheers. Thank you, AWF staff and volunteers that helped make this great day possible.
