A now retired former Prattville Junior High teacher, John Cahoon, has recently been acquitted and cleared of all charges relating to a March incident between him and a male student.

Cahoon was originally arrested March 28, after parents of a student at the school alleged assault, harassment and intimidation. Cahoon retired not long after the charges were filed.

Cahoon was represented by Prattville Attorney Chip Cleveland, who told the EAN his client was innocent, and the allegations lacked merit. Cleveland said the Autauga County School system “lost a good one” and he hopes that this will be a lesson for all moving forward. “He is a good man, who did nothing wrong. This has been a very unfortunate thing. We were very happy with the acquittal.”
