Montgomery residents arrested concerning May Burglary, Theft case in Millbrook

Elmore Autauga News

A Millbrook burglary investigation which began in May, has ended with the arrest Friday of two Montgomery residents. They were booked into the Elmore County Jail, and identified as Christopher L. Franklin, 50, and Anita J. Brockman, 47.

Below is the release from Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson

On May 23, 2025, a Millbrook resident reported to Millbrook police that an unknown person(s) had unlawfully entered his property, in the 100 block of Cedar Court, forcibly entering an enclosed trailer, stealing assorted lawn equipment.

Within days of the initial complaint being filed, detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigations Unit were able to locate and recover the property reported stolen, returning said property to the victim, as the investigation continued. Suspects were developed and warrants of arrest were obtained against both of the alleged offenders in this case, pursuant to an investigation.

On July 25, 2025, with the assistance of the Montgomery Police Department, officers with the Millbrook Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit took both alleged offenders, identified as Christopher L. Franklin, 50-years old, and Anita J. Brockman, 47-years old, both Montgomery residents, into custody at their Montgomery residence, without incident or injury. Both were transported to the Millbrook Police Department, where they were placed under arrest, with each being charged with (2) counts of Burglary 3rd Degree and (2) counts of Theft of Property 4th Degree. Upon completion of processing, Franklin and Brockman were transported to the Elmore County Jail, where both remain under a $42,000.00 bond.

This is yet another example of outstanding police work on the part of the detectives in our Criminal Investigations Unit, as well as our Street Crimes Unit. The criminal element in today’s society continue to operate under the mistaken impression that they can travel down the interstate, entering neighboring cities to commit their crimes, then return to their homes thinking they’ve gotten away unscathed. As I’ve stated on many occasions, that’s exactly why we have detectives, who continue to investigate criminal offenses, long after the offense is initially reported. This is also why we continue to maintain great working relations with the law enforcement agencies in our surrounding area and across the State.

I’m reasonably sure that the two alleged offenders in this case had not given a second thought with regard to the crime they are alleged to have committed in this city two months ago, at least not until officers from the Montgomery and Millbrook Police Departments paid them an unscheduled visit yesterday afternoon, with arrest warrants in hand.

For those that have or intend to commit similar crimes in the City of Millbrook, be advised, just because you committed a criminal offense and left our city without being apprehended today, that doesn’t mean that our detectives aren’t conducting an active investigation, or that you won’t be identified and eventually apprehended. You can expect a visit from our officers, accompanied by our neighboring law enforcement partners, with an invitation and transportation provided to the Elmore County Jail.

The Millbrook Police Department extends our appreciation to the Montgomery Police Department for their assistance in this case. We are extremely grateful for the working relationships that we enjoy with all of our law enforcement partners statewide. It’s these relationships that allow us to successfully apprehend the criminal offenders that perpetrate these crimes, then flee into neighboring jurisdictions to avoid apprehension.
