Marbury Girls’ Basketball Coach, Reggie Brown, won 310 victories during his career, which began in 2011-2012 when he led the boys basketball team. Brown later took over the girls’ team and coached both boys and girls from 2014 to 2021. He continued coaching only girls from 2021 to 2025. Brown retired at the end of the 2025 season after leading the Marbury girls’ team to their 5th consecutive area championship and their second ever regional championship and trip to the Class 5A Final Four. As a result of the successful season, the Elmore Autauga News has named former Marbury Girls’ Basketball Coach Reggie Brown as Autauga County Basketball Coach of the Year.
“Coaching the girls to the Final Four was a dream come true,” said Brown. “You know all coaches, coach to win and make it to that pinnacle in their career. The first time was a surprise to me, but the second time we knew that we were the team to reckon with. Our girls played like it, they prepared like they were the team to beat, and I think that we showed that wherever we went.”
NuNu Jernigan and Gabrielle Brown were both named to Girls’ 1st Team All Autauga County following the season. Jernigan and Brown both averaged over 14 points a game for the Lady Bulldogs.
The Alabama Sports Writers Association named Jernigan to 2nd Team All-State for Class 5A.
Although he is retired and won’t be on the sidelines anymore, Brown hopes that the girls’ basketball team will continue to succeed in the future.
“The girls’ program will continue to be successful as longs they can get the girls out of the hallways that could help the program,” said Brown. “Marbury has a lot of talented female athletes. Some like to be sports specific, but we need them in all sports. I hope that the parents and coaches advocate this because it is definitely needed at Marbury High School. Marbury Girls’ Basketball has a bright future.”
