Abby Sumner, a member of the American Heritage Girls AL0125, was recognized Tuesday, along with her team members, at the Millbrook City Council meeting.

Abby chose a service project to benefit Millbrook Art Mill. Along with her team, to prepare the future pottery studio area at the facility.

“Abby has done a tremendous amount of work with the city,” Mayor Al Kelley said, and then read a proclamation in honor of Abby and the service project.

Abby won the Stars and Stripes Award from American Heritage Girls for her project, which is the highest achievement award. It recognizes outstanding character, leadership and a commitment to faith and service. To earn the award, candidates must complete extensive badge work, demonstrate service leadership, plan and lead a significant service project in their community.

Kelley said the service project built shelving, benches and installed peg board in the city’s future pottery studio, enhancing the space for future recreational use.
