Libby Barrett, 9, attends Prattville Elementary. She has received a difficult diagnosis and will require a bone marrow transplant. Prayers are requested for a successful transplant and treatment plan. Please also pray for her precious family.
From Theresa Nolette Keith
With her parents’ permission, I would like to ask for prayers for Libby Barrett.
Libby is the daughter of Will and Jenn Barrett, who are the kind of people who would give a stranger the shirt off their back, or someone they love a kidney. (Jenn really did.)
Libby was diagnosed Thursday after a long, difficult week, with severe aplastic anemia. Very similar to Leukemia, severe aplastic anemia means that Libby’s bone marrow is basically “broken” and not doing its job, creating platelets, and red and white blood cells-which we know are very necessary.
Libby has a long treatment road ahead of her that will involve completely suppressing her immune system (potentially with chemo and other immunosuppressant drugs) in order to prayerfully prepare her body for a bone marrow transplant.
This is where we need your prayers. We know that God already has big plans for Libby, she is a living, breathing, real life Disney princess. She loves to sing, act and be creative, and mostly she loves to love.
Libby is the kind of child who helps in the special needs classroom, because she has a heart for the children. The kind of child who has a birthday party and instead of gifts for herself, collects items for charity or people in need. The kind of child who in her hospital bed this week was being a little ray of sunshine, complimenting all of her nurses and doctors on things she liked about them, and never forgetting to tell them thank you for whatever they may be doing for her.
She is a true joy.
Jesus shines through her each and every day and I am blessed just by knowing her.
Her “best case” treatment plan is a bone marrow transplant. Her best chance for a match? Her equally amazing, big brother, Caleb.
Caleb is so smart (like REALLY smart), witty and kind to everyone. He is so much fun to be around and always wants to make sure people feel loved and accepted.
Caleb is the kind of brother who had already told his mom he would donate his bone marrow- even before the care team mentioned it.
Please pray Caleb is a match.
The more people we have letting God know our needs, the better.
God is sovereign and we will not let this trial test our faith-but we are begging Him to hear our prayers in Jesus’ name.
Please join us by praying for Libby, and specifically this week that Caleb is a match for donation.
Please share this post, Will and Jenn have said they would love God’s throne flooded on their daughter’s behalf.
In Jesus’ name.
