The most recent Elmore County Cleanup Weekend was a resounding success, with a record number of volunteers from across the county, and the amount of trash removed from roadways and other areas.

This has been a passion of Elmore County Commissioner Henry Hines, who has friendly competitions with other commissioners. This year showed what a group of determined people can do, and they found ways to make it fun!

But, as we know, it is not a permanent fix. The trash is already collecting, and it takes all of us working together throughout the year to keep Elmore County clean! Remember to clean out the bed of your truck before you drive down highways. Please, do not throw trash out of your windows. Keep a garbage bag in your vehicle for the trash and dispose of it properly when you can.

Thank you to all who took part and made a difference!

From the Elmore County Commission –

The 2025 Elmore County Spring Cleanup was a huge success due to the volunteers throughout the County that cleaned up our roadsides. The Elmore County Commission thanks each person who gave their time to help clean up our County. We had volunteer groups from each community across Elmore County including school groups, teams, churches, families, city offices, and community organizations just to name a few.

This year’s event was the most successful Cleanup Event to date. The Elmore County Public Works Department collected over 700 bags of trash. This total does not include the numerous groups that disposed of their own bags!

The Elmore County Commission appreciates all the groups who participated and continues to encourage citizens to help keep our county clean. The Commission would also like to express sincere gratitude to Millbrook Council members Michael Gay and Chris Bath, Central Alabama Electric Cooperative, Alabama Power and Alabama PALS for their donations that helped provide the bags, safety vests, pickers and gloves for the groups to use during the event. Thank you for helping make this year’s event successful!
